The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) releasedlotteryamountposition report showslotteryamountLast week, speculative funds made net purchases in the Chicago soybean meal futures and options market for the fifth consecutive week, with a cumulative net purchase of 130,000 lots, making net long orders the highest value since the week of December 12 last year.
As of May 7, 2024, speculative funds held a net long position of 87,991 lots in soybean meal futures and options positions on the Chicago Board of Trade, an increase of 44,395 lots from a week ago. Net purchases of 23,915 lots in the previous week.
The fund currently holds 121,611 long orders in soybean meal futures and options, compared with 112,264 lots a week ago; 33,620 short orders, compared with 68,668 lots a week ago. During the same period, soybean meal futures and options were open for 526,380 lots, compared with 498,943 lots a week ago.
